WIP Wednesday

This past week I have been busing working on drafting up new ideas for my shop and getting ready for upcoming markets.
And, then spending the evenings knitting away little beanies - sorry my models couldn't manage a smile ; )

I also had a big tidy up of my sewing space which is still just a small card table in one corner of my office, but I managed to organise everything into containers and stack all my books and patterns across the back of the table.

And I sorted out my fabric stash. The biggest container is actually full of nappy making stuff, I really need to use it - I have a huge amount of bamboo, hemp and maiden mills fleece that I need to get stuck into and make some more nappies with or something. The other two tubs contain all my other fabrics.

I think I need to make something other than shop stuff. I am in a bit of a sewing lull I think, maybe another quilt on the horizon soon, or get stuck into some summer sewing for the kids.

Round and Round

I finished off the beret i started knitting on Wednesday from the new book I picked up. I found it surprisingly easy to knit in the round and when it came to switching to the 4 double pointed needles it wasn't at all as hard as what I thought it would be. I can't believe how quickly this actually came together, will definitely be making lots more hats from this fantastic book.
It is suppose to be a beret, not a beanie, but it seems my little miss has a fairly large head (nearly off the charts for her age, lol) so I best be making the next size up I think for the next one.

WIP Wednesday

Nothing much happening on the sewing front this week. Have been working on a few new designs for a couple of things I am wanting to make to sell at the markets so will have a peak of those in the weeks to come.
I picked up this book this week on making gorgeous baby/children's beanies. There are some really cute designs and they are all knitted in the round (using circular and double pointed needles) which is something new for me and so far I am really enjoying it.
I have picked this design from the book to start with. I am knitting it just in one colour so as not to confuse myself. The wool is a beautiful alpaca/pure wool blend and a mix of pink/orange shades. Hopefully it will come together quickly and easily, so far so good!
I have also been sorting out how to display my goods at this weekends market. I picked up these cane basket platter things at the reject shop which I think will be great for the hair accessories and gift tags. I also picked up a couple of bamboo dishes at target for $5 in the clearance section which was a bargain - they are bright red and bright green on the underside. They are for the pencil rolls and crayon rolls.I was hoping to get started on a skirt last weekend for Miss M for the EB Skirt challenge, but of course things come up and I haven't been able to make a start on it. I did receive the latest copy of Ottobre mag in the post this week though and have book marked a few things I would like to make in the weeks to come.
And I still have a spot left for the PIF if anyone else wants to join - please : )

WIP Wednesday

Well, it's been a week since my last post which was also a WIP Wednesday, does that mean I have achieved not much this week??? Well, I did finally (nearly) finish Miss M's cardi. I am not totally happy with the fit, a little shorter in the body than I would like and a little long in the sleeves, but oh well. Just to decide now if I will still add in the blanket stitching around all the edges in a contrasting colour, something like the pink wool in the photo??? Maybe even some embellishments of some sort.

This is my sewing space. A little card table in my office that is impossible to work out most days. I seriously need to sort out some storage and get a much bigger desk. The overlocker is currently situation at the kitchen table, so am moving backwards and forwards between these two work areas at the moment. The storage tubs under the table are full of fabric and haby bits and pieces and the dresses sitting over the machine are waiting to be finished.
Quilting inspiration - I 'sort of' like this pattern I found in an old quilting magazine. I am looking for a design to make a quilt for Master T's bed now. Something pretty big, probably double size and something that will last a while. I also found some gorgeous designs by Miss Marzie that would look fantastic in the boys room.
And finally a couple of vintage patterns I picked up last week. The dress/top looks really comfy, a good one for pregnancy wear or nice and light for hot summers, but I wonder if I will ever actually make the lingerie one???

Knitting In Progress

I am currently knitting this little cardi for Matilda for winter - hopefully I finish it before then and before she's too big for it, lol. Just have to finish the second sleeve and down the front and its nearly all done. The pattern suggests a blanket stitch in a contrasting colour all around the edges, but I haven't decided on a colour yet, probably a slighter darker shade of green? Then a couple of buttons for the front and it will be finished.

Longies for Matilda

A pair of longies I started knitting for Tilly when I was pregnant with her and didn't finish until she was about 3 months old.
