More Sneak Peaks!

Here is another little sneak peak for the EB kids clothes swap. Just about finished, just some hemming and a little top to finish off now : ) A little different to the first sneak peak? Yes it is, this is a second outfit that I started on and should have just done from the beginning so I am undecided yet as to whether I will send both pieces with a top that will go with both or just this one as I love the way this one has turned out! So cute!

Freezer Paper Stencilling

I finally got around to doing some freezer paper stencilling today after wanting to try it for a while now. I found an image in my clipart folder of a motorbike which I thought Tom would love (and he does!). The paint has bled a little on the back wheel of the bike which I think may have been me putting the paint on a little too thickly. Not bad for a first attempt though and so quick and easy to do. Once its dry will give it a few washes just to check the paint mix I used holds up well enough before doing some more. I used a combination of an acrylic paint with a textile medium from the 'Jo Sonja' paint range.

Button Hair Ties

Some cute little button hair ties I made on the weekend for Matilda using self cover buttons, fabric scraps and some hair elastics. I could 'just' get her hair up into tiny piggy tails.

EB Haby Swap

Thank you to Cass for the lovely goodies I received in the EB Haby Swap. A magazine, some material, a pin cushion, zips, pins, ric rac and buttons. All lovely bits and pieces that I am sure will get used up very soon!

And a sneak peak of what I made for the pin cushion swap on EB which I posted off last week.

Its a . . . pair of scissors

But not just any old scissors. Well, old yes. These are some very old scissors that my mum gave to me today. They belonged to her grandmother, my great grandmother who was a dressmaker. They were made by J Wiss & Sons of Newark, NJ USA who was a scissor maker between the mid 1800's and mid 1900's, so we are guessing these to be over 100 years old! I did a little bit of research on the net and found that they are called bent handle tailors shears, designed for the french tailors to cut material along a table, the lip on the bottom on the handle is all in line with the blades, allowing the scissors to glide across the table without wrist movement. Although I am sure they would have got a sore wrist holding them, they are VERY heavy! Anyway, that's enough of a history lesson, back to sewing!

Something to grow into . . .

Long sleeved top - a little big, but Miss Matilda will grow into it . . . maybe next year, lol

Decorative machine stitching around the bottom

Standing all by herself - walking a few steps on her own

This is a little top I did today during Tom's lunchtime sleep with Matilda crawling around my feet wanting to help by pushing on the foot pedal of the machine to make me go faster, lol. Anyway, no pattern, just cut out three pieces to resemble something like what I was after with the envelope neck (is that what its called?). I wasn't planning on the decorative edging along the bottom, but thought it looked pretty and that I may as well try out some of these stitches on my machine. Anyway, I plan to make some matching pj pants in the apple print, might be winter pjs for next year, or i'll just take in the top a little and they'll be right for this winter.
